At Aromas de Loft, we believe that sustainability is the key to creating thriving, healthy, diverse, and resilient communities for this generation and generations to come. Sustainable practices from consumers have ignited conscience production and consumption, yet the candle industry has remained largely unchanged. That's why we asked ourselves, "how can we be sustainable due to the amount of waste produced by candle companies globally?" The simple answer was to focus on what we can control.
The billion-dollar candle industry leaves behind an increasingly large environmental footprint. Many would say that the long term impact is just not worth the short-lived pleasure of what candles bring. The two largest components are the candle vessels and the wax material. Much of this industry's footprint is tied to single-use candle vessels. An estimated 2 billion candles are sold in any given year, with an equal or greater number ending up in landfills.
At Aromas de Loft, we believe in taking action to reduce our environmental impact. The greatest impact we will make will be to decrease our purchase of candle vessels and refill vessels in our local area. Customers will now have the ability to schedule pick-ups in Los Angeles to drop off their candle. We will return the candle within 5 business days. Also, we recommend and encourage our customers to extend their vessel lifespan by repurposing their candle vessel by turning it into a flower vase, toothbrush holder, or adding succulent plants.
